. the folks have not been able to get along. nothing is happening in washington, d.c. it's gridlock. so we have got to change something. we tried to change the white house. we were not able to get that done unfortunately. so now we need to look at new leadership. kevin mccarthy, cathy mcmorris rogers. you know, we have got a good group of folks to pick from. i think john boehner's days are just done. it's not working. let's look at someone else. >> laura: chris, i had a well-placed conservative voice today on the hill, email me and said he is beginning to hear rumblings. i already gave something away. he. beginning to hear rumblings of a move to replace the speaker of the house. we're in the middle of this tussle with the democrats. more than a tussle. and is that the right time to put that out there and people are floating the name of paul ryan to be house speaker. but ryan did support, i believe, plan b, did he not? >> yes. and, you know what, laura? you are always going to hear that type of rumblings. in the middle of this disaster, which is, you know, this discussion over nothing, basi

, reaction, joining us from washington, marjorie, a democratic strategist and here in the studio, democrat and fox news analyst, kirsten powers. so the lansing thing, i don't think this is isolated and the networks knew about it because it was on every web site in the world. and they chose not to bring it to their viewers. >> yeah. >> bill: why do you think? >> i can't speak for them, but i certainly can say whenever there was a tea party rally and they found one sign out of 500 people that was racist, then they would use that to show that the entire movement was racist. so it seems odd in this situation that they would ignore a story that makes the ruins not look very good and in the clips you showed, talk being how there is a lot of anger and that seems to be a good example of anger. >> bill: were you ever a reporter? >> huh-uh. >> bill: i was a reporter for many, many years. i'll tell you, video like this, golden. golden. stuff like this, you would have to put it in your package. >> yeah. >> bill: yet all three, marjorie, all three leave it out. can you -- do you have any explanation at

it firsthand this week when i was down in washington. there is arrogance and condescension in many left wing precincts despite the fact that u.n. ambassador today susan rice is out of consideration for secretary of state. we will more on that with bob beckel coming up. the more secular progressives understand now is their time in history. the agenda is clear. above all the secular forces want to change the economy. they want the government to run it and provide graddle to grave entitlements for those americans who cannot or will not provide for themselves. the left also wants to control profits in the private sector taking as much money as possible away from the achievers and the corporations. again, with the intent to redistrict the cash. so that's agenda number one. number two, is to obliterate some american traditions. gay marriage, not about matrimony anymore. it's about civil rights. and if you oppose gay marriage you are a hater, a rights denier. legalized narcotics, the left sees drug users as victims and believes no one has a right to stand between an american and intoxication much.

us from washington, senator bill nelson from florida who has been trying hard to secure the release of corporal hammar. am i making any mistakes here? >> good evening, bill. and, yes, we all want to get him out and we want him out by next week by christmas. so he can be home. i would just point out that the white house is involved i have talked to both of them today. i have asked the state department to have our general council our con sill general in mat morris and consulate to get back in there again and see him. the one thing that i think is a little different than your recitation of the facts is that it was when we found out about him being in the general prison population last august, when he was picked up that we asked because of the obvious threats to his life and attempted shakedowns to get him out of there. got him into the same prison but an administrative facility and that's where you see the photograph of him in a room by himself and they have actually got cuff on his leg chained to the bed. that has since been removed but i think that didn't occur for some period of tim

, and they are abusing freedom of speech. this stuff has gotta stop. >>> the top story tonight. join us from washington. juan, i think this kind of garbage is completely out of hand. am i overreacting? >> no. in fact, i would say that you're understating the case. let me tell you something. right now the provocators, and i agree with some of the things whitlock said about gun control, but he got in trouble for comments when he made racial comments about jeremy lin, the new york knicks and now houston rockets basketball player who is asian-american. when he he starts to talk about you in these terms, you know, this is in line with ma marginalizing what you had to say which was a totally legitimate comment about the white establishment going into lower numbers because of the rise in terms of blacks and hispanics. now he wants to make you out to be master of some big house. how ridiculous. let me tell you something. if he's asked to be on your show, the most popular show on cable tv, he should have regarded it as an honor and opportunity to have platform to speak out as a free black man. he's somehow twis

thread, gretawire.com, good night from washington. mr. bill o'reilley >> bill: "the o'reilly factor" is on. tonight -- >> the assault weapon is developed for military purposes to kill in close combat. >> bill: as we predicted, semiautomatic weapons are now under fire. pardon the pun. will congress ban them? charles krauthammer and i will discuss it. >> he is not a gun runner and you know. he should be released immediately. >> bill: with seven days until christmas, will the mexican government release marine corporal jon hammer from prison? this is a terrible miscarriage of justice. and president obama should get involved. we'll have the latest from the corporal's parents. >> i know what you're thinking. did he fire six shots or only five? ask yourself one question, do i feel lucky? >> bill: do you recall tradition violent movies and video games incite psychopaths to commit crimes. quentin terrentino and jamie fox are under pressure. we'll tell you what's going on. caution, you are about to enter the no spin zone. story tonight reaction. joining us from washington mary catherine ham and juan williams from washington. where am i going wrong, juan. >> you said people feel more secure if they are able to own a gun. i have got to say first off the bat, bill. i think you are exactly right about everybody's right to have a gun the supreme court has reaffirmed it. i differ about my understanding what the founding fathers wrote. i think they were writing about a militia. the court sides with bill o'reilly or bill o'reilly sides with the court. we have some guns in this country right now and when you talk about someone feeling more secure, according to the center for disease control, you know, you're 50% more likely to shoot yourself than shoot any other criminal, more likely to shoot a spouse or a child than to shoot anybody who intends to do you harm. that's why i think -- >> bill: that's an individual decision and you can say look, you are 50% more likely to have a house fire if you have an oven rather than if you didn't have one. that doesn't really make any sense. what makes sense though is mary kath

affect public policy? joining us from washington, fox news political analyst, charles krauthammer. all right, assault weapons number one. but this is going to run into party politics and i think both parties now noe it. so the american public very emotional now. that's going to die down a little bit. but the issue is very emotional and the democrats are going to come in and they're going to try to get as much hand gun legislation and assault rifle legislation as they can. is that the way you see? >> i think that's right. there are people who want to use this as a partisan, who scapegoat the nra to one over one side of the argument. i think one way to get around that is to too what joe lieberman suggested, appoint a commission, not to put it off indefinitely. we had a commission after 9-11. because there is going to be a rush to judgment on this. i think it's likely that we're going to pass weapons laws that will be completely useless and i think it would be far better to appoint a commission to report in three months, six months, maybe lieberman, maybe giuliani to let head it and look
